Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Brand...check.  Website...check.  Email Marketing...check.  Yes, now it's time for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), unless we were lucky enough to catch you in the content creation and site mapping phase. There are a number of important "little things" to do when it comes to search engine optimization, but our philosophy is simple.

Similar to the line in Field of Dreams, "If you build it, they will come", we believe, "If you write it, they will come".  Search Engine Optimization boils down to fresh, relevant keyword focused text.  Search Engine Optimization firms do bring a tremendous value, as there are many things to address, but at the end of the day, the Search Engines have a customer...the "searcher" and the product the Search Engines deliver are relevant search results.

The key of course is "relevant".  That is where a focused keyword strategy is invaluable.  Our process starts with a relevant keyword list that we work together to generate.  This list includes geo-targeted phrases where possible and we strongly encourage long tail (3 words or more) phrases.  Once this is complete, we expand this list significantly and determine the relative strength of the keywords using a Google AdWords account we create on your behalf.  From here, we identify the keywords we are going to pursue and group them accordingly.

With this "working" list, we create and editorial schedule, so that we can edit your content for these keywords, update or write your meta tags, page names and alt tags.  In addition, we'll check for on page issues and attempt to resolve them to the best of our ability (depending on the the site we are working with and who developed it).  We'll create and setup your Google webmaster tools, create all verification files for Google, Bing and Yahoo, and create a site map if one does not exist (our web sites come with an automatically generated Google xml sitemap - cool, right?).

And of course, it's important to keep sites updated on a regular basis as Google loves fresh content.  So, as part of our programs, we  add at least one page of optimized copy to your site each month.

This is just one aspect of Search Engine Optimization.  The other half of practical SEO is the use of link building.  Google recently reduced some of the effectiveness of this technique, but building a strong base of links from reputable sites that make sense to your industry, is still a valid endeavor.

We would be remiss if we didn't address one other important, recent development in practical SEO.  The use of Social Media, Product Reviews, etc. is becoming more and more important in helping you get found.  So is location based keywords and targeting (to help with the burgeoning mobile revolution.  But they all come down to the simple formula proposed at the beginning of this page: "If you write it, they will come".  So, get ready to write or engage someone like us to write for you!
